Test Automation Engineer
Automated tests across web, API, mobile and desktop applications — built to survive the next release, in a team where architecture decisions get reviewed.
Why this role exists
Responsibility for whether a release is safe.
Our customers do not ask us for testers. They ask us to take responsibility for whether a release is safe to go live. That works only with engineers who can read a business process, decide what is worth automating, and build something that still runs two release trains later.
What you will do
The work.
- Design and build automated tests across web, API, mobile and desktop applications
- Decide what to automate and what to leave manual — and explain the reasoning to a project lead
- Build reusable, maintainable test assets rather than scripts that break on the next change
- Integrate test execution into CI/CD pipelines
- Analyse failures and report results so that people who do not test for a living can act on them
- Work in a team where a senior colleague reviews your architecture decisions — and where you review theirs
What you bring
What we look for.
- At least three years in software testing or test automation
- Practical experience with at least one automation tool or framework — Playwright, Selenium, Tosca, Cypress, Robot Framework or comparable
- ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level, or the willingness to obtain it in your first months with us
- Comfortable with APIs, databases and version control
- German and English at working level
Tricentis Tosca experience is welcome but not required. If you come from open-source automation, you will not be retrained into a tool specialist — we need both.
Compensation
What we pay.
The minimum salary under the Austrian IT collective agreement for this position (ST1) is EUR 3,954 gross per month, paid 14 times per year, for the Vienna-based role. We pay significantly above this depending on qualification and experience. For our locations in Hungary and Türkiye, compensation follows local market conditions.
